  • The 13th Festival of Arts and Culture (FestPAC) is happening this month.

  • The Hawaii State Legislature introduced 2,678 new bills and carried over 2,858 from the 2023 session, passing 262 of them to the Governor for action.

  • The City and County of Honolulu approved a nearly $3.6 billion budget without raising hotel taxes, despite three attempts to increase them. They are also revising the Land Use Ordinance through Bill 64.

  • TAR Bills Update: Hawaiʻi Island’s Leeward Planning Commission gave TAR bills a positive recommendation on 5/23. The Hawaii County Council Planning Commission has not scheduled them yet.

  • Fiscal Year 2024-25 Budget Hearings: Mayor Mitch Roth proposed an $888M budget. Real property tax rate hearings were held on 5/14/24.

  • Kohala Coast Fire Mitigation: Hotels partnered with Team Rubicon for a major fire mitigation operation in Waikoloa.
